Series 1 3D Printer
The Series 1 is the culmination of over a year of engineering work and prototype testing to rethink the way that 3D printers are built. We kept the plywood construction, like many printers, to keep the cost as low as possible but carefully designed everything to make the best printer possible so you can stop spending time fixing unreliable printers, and get creating.
Build big stuff
We were tired of building things that could fit into little boxes so we designed the Series 1 to fit really large objects without a drastic increase in overall machine size. Forget having to redesign your ideas to fit lesser machines, and enjoy the possibilities opened up by a build volume that eclipses the competition with just over 729 cubic inches (9" x 9" x 9").
Get great detail
We go beyond the market standard again, by using high resolution stepper motors. We build every machine with double the resolution at the printhead compared with other direct drive 3D printers. The Series 1 is capable of layers as thin as 0.1mm with normal settings. Resolutions as fine as 0.05mm (50 microns) have been demonstrated with only minor adjustments in software. Even resolutions as low as 0.3mm print at top speed with great results.
Rock solid
In side by side testing by third party testers, the Series 1 has proven far more reliable than the average printer thanks in no small part to our rock solid printhead design, that does away with plastic plungers that wear away, or printed parts that often crack or melt. Instead a mix of precision machined stainless steel, high grade bearings and other custom parts, makes for a drive system that just keeps going.
Wait less
Advanced vector based acceleration means that the Series 1 isn’t just fast, it’s really fast with printing speeds of up to 90mm/s and travel speeds of up to 250mm/s. Even better, it won’t shake itself to pieces to get there thanks to its lightweight printhead design and solid construction.
Extruder 1.1
As part of our endless drive to evolve better desktop 3D printers we are now including version 1.1 of our extruder design with every printer. The new extruder drive is custom machined out of solid aluminum and provides a simple lever system for easier plastic changes.
